Galleri Sebastian Schildt presents an exhibition of experimental fashion in the form of unique, handmade objects in wood and birch bark by Swedish artist Aia J\u00fcdes.<\/p>\n
By playfully integrating various status symbols in her works, J\u00fcdes questions the notion of value and examines why crafts too often are undervalued. All objects in the exhibition are made in close collaboration with two skilled craftspeople specialized in working with birch bark and based in Dalarna, in central Sweden.<\/p>\n
Aia J\u00fcdes\u2019 work revolves around contrast. She merges disparate materials in surprising ways with her dark sense of humour and creates expressions that together tell a fascinating story. Her inspiration comes from nature itself, as well as traditional techniques of sloyd and handicraft – which she develops by allowing craft to merge with popular culture and fashion.<\/p>\n
