RU RUNEBERG
Conversation Pieces
AUGUST 26 – SEPTEMBER 17, 2017
As his native Finland celebrates 100 years of independence, silversmith Ru Runeberg presents his exhibition Conversation Pieces at the gallery.
Runeberg is one of Finland’s foremost contemporary silversmiths and is well-known for his sculptural insects, which are both practical objects and works of art in their own right. These insects have allowed Runeberg to develop a personal language: his very own world of fables through which he interprets present times. The art visitor is invited to a playful yet intellectual exhibition questioning society.
His objects are hard to resist and undoubtedly fine examples of so-called conversation pieces.
Artist talk: Tuesday August 29, 5.30 pm.
