POLICAST

September 21 – October 12, 2019

One of today’s most compelling artists working with metal is German goldsmith Peter Bauhuis.

His exhibition Policast at Galleri Sebastian Schildt features a series of metal corpus objects, masterfully formed through the unexpected possibilities of the casting process. Bauhuis casts oxidized silver, copper and gold together, creating alloys solidified in dynamic compositions and patterns. The resulting vessels have a sublime, painterly quality. Even so, the form of his metal corpus is characterized by an austere simplicity which is further accentuated by visible traces of the manufacturing process, incorporating fine lines and cracks into the form.
