CARSTEN FROM ANDERSEN & YUKI FERDINANDSEN

SIMILAR DISSIMILARITIES

FEBRUARY 7 – 28, 2015

Galleri Sebastian Schildt presents two of Denmark’s foremost silversmiths – Yuki Ferdinandsen and Carsten From Andersen.

Our two exhibited silversmiths come from different generations and also have vastly different perspectives and approaches to their work. These contrasts become ever clear when Ferdinandsen’s exquisite, patient and precise hammer blows are juxtaposed with From Andersen’s rough and almost brutally loud forms in silver. There are also visible contrasts in the concave and the convex in the exhibition, as well as in the subtle white surfaces versus the bright and shiny ones. What unites Ferdinandsen and From Andersen is their closeness with nature and a constant, even relentless, way of exploring the possibilities and limitations of silver.
