Gilles Bensimon

Photographer, Gilles Bensimon, who has his background in the fashion industry, is fascinated by the natural beauty of flowers, which he captures with his camera in the water. The petals, stems and colour contrasts are depicted through the transparent surface of the water and the reflections of daylight, which results in expressionist still life.

Gilles Bensimon, (b. 1944), French photographer based in New York. For many years Gilles Bensimon was International Creative Director and Head Photographer at Elle Magazine and founder of American Elle, but he has also worked for other magazines such as Vogue and Harper´s Bazaar. During his career, Gilles Bensimon has been involved in revolutionizing the imagery of fashion magazines. He is world famous for his iconic model images of world stars such as Cindy Crawford, Naomi Campell, Christy Turlington and Emma Sjöberg.
