THE RETURN OF THE BURLS

FEBRUARY 1 – 22, 2020

In The Return of the Burls, artist Aia Jüdes fills Galleri Sebastian Schildt with her creative universe and its playful hybrids between traditional craft and innovative forms of expression.

Here, the fibrous knots growing on certain tree trunks or branches known as burls take center stage.

Aia Jüdes has collaborated with elder woodturners and created more than twenty flamboyant and sculptural lamps. These works challenge the viewer to re-evaluate their stance on traditional crafts as well as seeing these naturally occurring burls in a completely different light.

Artist talk and a post-talk cocktail reception on Monday February 3, 5 pm. Aia Jüdes in conversation with Ewa Kumlin, Director of the Swedish Institute in Paris.

The exhibition The Return of the Burls is part of Stockholm Design Week.
