Photographer Lisen Stibeck presents a suite of eight staged photographs with dreamy, surreal undertones. Personally composed imagery and composition filled with symbolically charged, favorite objects such as cacti, turtles and cross-stitch embroidery. The images were shot in Morocco in daylight and reach beyond language – creating visual poetry.
Opening Thursday 17 November, 5 – 8 PM.
Artist talk Tuesday, 22/11 at 17.30. Limited seating, RSVP no later than two days in advance.
The embroidery has a significance beyond the image. Stibecks initiative engages thirty women in Morocco who are employed to embroider. Besides giving life to an endangered craft tradition, the work rouses pride and raises school-funds. The designs are part of the exhibition and sold to enable the Moroccan women’s children to go to school.
The exhibition runs November 17 to December 4, 2016.
